Fishing works in a similar way, especially if you go deep sea fishing and have to help reel in a really big catch. Spending time outdoors is a great way to stay in shape. Staying Safe While Boat Fishing

Chartering a boat with friends or family for a fishing trip can be a great way of spending a day. But there are always risks associated with being out on the water so it is important to take some precaution in order to avoid any accidents occurring and ruining everyone’s good time

Treat the Ocean With Respect

If you want to charter a boat then you must remember that the ocean is a powerful force to be reckoned with. Always listen to the advice of the boat owner in terms of whether you should head out and where you should fish. Remember that the skippers decision is final and that he or she is responsible for the safety of all crew while on board.

Take Safety Precautions

There is no excuse for not wearing a lifesaver while out on a boat. Ensure that every member f your party is correctly attired before fishing can begin. If there are children in your party ensure that one adult is responsible for each child at all times. If parents and other family members become caught up in catching fish it can lead to confusion over who should be watching each child which can be dangerous. Make sure each person is aware of their responsibilities.

Cast with Care

Once fishing commences everyone on board needs to ensure that they cast with care, taking into account the position of other people on board. Space anglers around the deck and instruct everyone to stay within their designated parameters while fishing.

Drink Responsibly

While many aglers enjoy a beer while indulging their passion, no one should ever be drunk on board. Make sure party members know their drinking limits.

Swab the Decks

Try and keep decks clear of clutter and clean the decks after landing a catch. Wet slippery decks can easily lead to accidents as can discarded tackle.

Sea fishing is an exciting and rewarding outdoor pastime and a great way for generations to bond. Instilling a love of fishing in your children can be a brilliant way to forge a link between you that will last a lifetime but how should you start?

Introducing a Child to the Concept of Fishing

Young children are naturally curious and are likely to find all aspects of fishing exciting. While toddlers will not be able to join their parents on sea angling adventures early on, you can excite their enthusiasm by getting them to come along on bait seeking trip – after all what toddler doesn’t think that digging for worms or looking for crabs in rock pools is a great way to spend time?
When taking part in these activities you can explain toy your child what the crabs and worms will be used for – you may wish to allow them to watch as you prepare bait before a fishing trip in order that they are not surprised by the practice later on.

First Fishing Trips

Once a child is ready to be introduced to fishing you should select a safe spot for their first attempt. Beach casting is probably the safest way for a child to start sea angling. Try getting a child to cast without a hook at first in order for them to master the action. Once you are confident they understand the way in which casting works, you will need to bait a hook for them and assist them with their first casts.

A Child’s First Catch

If a child gets a bite try to direct them in what to do, but avoid the urge to take over yourself in order to land the fish. A child will want to feel that they are responsible for their own achievements and will soon tire of fishing if you always step in at the crucial moment.
